• Litter Bin

  It is widely recommended that litter bins be 1-1.5 times the length of your kitty’s body and tail so they do not feel cramped while using the washroom. Since Siberians are a large breed of cat, we use two kinds of large clear bins with a smooth bottom for ease of cleaning.

  CZARINA SIBERIANS uses both the 39L under-bed bins with low edges for easy access and 104L bins with tall edges to reduce tracking of litter in the house.

• Litter Substrate

  CZARINA SIBERIANS cats and kittens are all fully litter trained. We recommend purchasing unscented clumping clay litter. If you want to transition your kitty to a different litter, please ask our advice on how to do this smoothly to ensure your kitty does not experience confusion, discomfort, or accidents in the process.

  We use Purina Tidy Cats Light Weight Free & Clean UNSCENTED Kitty Litter in the box with a light teal streak.

• Litter Scoop

  Litter scoops make a big difference in the cleanliness of the litter area. We recommend avoiding plastic litter scoops, opting instead for a metal litter scoop at each litter location in your home. Metal scoops reduce dust, are easier to clean and disinfect, and do not hold onto odours like plastic would.

  CZARINA SIBERIANS Helpful Trick: reduce litter dust while scooping by slowly tilting the scoop close to the top of the litter to separate the clumps for disposal rather than shaking the scoop to speed the process because the latter creates increased litter dust in the air.

• Litter Disposal

  CZARINA SIBERIANS keeps a Litter Locker at each litter box location in our home. We donate the plastic litter scoop and keep a metal litter scoop in its place. The litter locker enables us to do a quick scoop of the litter whenever we walk by and locks away any unpleasant scent until the litter locker bag insert is ready to be tied off and disposed of, pulling a new section of bag into place.

  This tool is not necessary, but highly recommended. It is a similar concept to a Diaper Genie, only for kitties.
